Electronic Technician II - Facilities Management

Summary:

Function & Scope: To provide highly technical skills in the construction, installation, operation and maintenance of electronic systems, to responsible for the ability operate, overhaul, and repair various types of electronic systems.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Will perform tests on laboratory grade instrumentation, video equipment, and digital logic circuitry and determine need for repair.
  • Will usually troubleshoot to the component level to perform repairs.
  • Will analyze major systems and sub-systems to localize fault area.
  • Will construct prototype equipment from schematics and drawings with limited supervision.
  • Will provide technical support to Electronic Technician I and to users.
  • Will assist superiors as needed. Will maintain repair and parts records and will make recommendations on parts purchase and stock.

Marginal Functions:

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

Received: Specific supervision from department head.

Given: Provides guidance to Electronic Technician. I

Education:

Required: High School graduation supplemented by approved courses in electronics.

Preferred N/A

Experience:

Required: Three years of experience in the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of modern electronic equipment.

Preferred: 1. Demonstrated initiative in project follow-through

2. Demonstrated creativity in engineering situations.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
