Summary:

Function & Scope: Oversee, instruct, review and inspect as well as test electrical equipment.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Review specifications on assigned projects.
  • Instruct and lead others in proper electrical procedures.
  • Design and install circuitry necessary to complete assigned projects.
  • Oversee and approve work done by electrician staff.
  • Knowledge and ability to use all types of electrical testing equipment.

Marginal Functions:

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

Received: Specific Supervision:  Incumbent performs standard and routine assignments independently to conclusion; unusual problems and exceptions to procedures or processes are referred to the supervisor.visor.

Given: May supervise the work of assigned staff.

Education:

Required: High school graduation or GED.

Preferred: None.

Experience:

Required: A minimum of 6 years electrical experience.

Preferred: N/A

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to use tools of the trade in which work is performed.

Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):

State Master Electrician license is required. Ability to lift, walk, bend, operate lifts, use a ladder, calculate loads, etc.

Other:

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
