Summary:
Function & Scope: To perform supervisory work directing and coordinating housekeeping and custodial maintenance and related building services. Responsible for the direct or indirect supervision of all building service employees, and for organizing, planning, and directing a program of custodial management.
Essential Functions:
Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan, develop, and direct the activity of the custodial services section.
- Provide custodial services to campus buildings and facilities as required.
- Develop section budget; maintain budget control over custodial salaries, equipment, and supplies.
- Determine section policy and procedure, evaluate custodial service programs to assure efficient operation, establish work standards and develop, implement, and evaluate training programs.
- Evaluate employees for promotion, discipline, and discharge.
- Hire and terminate custodial personnel.
- Establish standards for, and purchase supplies and equipment.
- Coordinate custodial activities with faculty, student, administration and security schedules and needs.
Marginal Functions:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Prepares reports of work performed, budget requirements, and assists with planning and implementation of ideas in new buildings.

Received: General supervision by Assistant Director.
Given: Supervision to custodial work groups.
Education:
Required: High school graduation.
Preferred: N/A
Experience:
Required: Three years of supervisory experience in custodial maintenance work or related management activities.
Preferred: N/A
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of cleaning and custodial materials, equipment and methods of disposing trash and waste materials.
Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):
Proficiency in all phases of duties performed. Usual office conditions; on 24 hour call.
Other:
If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.
Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.
Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
