Summary:

Function & Scope:

Function: To oversee the management of the Parking Office operation and Citation Management. Responsible for developing and implementing procedures pertaining to parking and the associated fees for the staff, faculty, students, and visitors and for the supervision of the cashiers and clerical positions within the Parking Office.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for citations issued, meter collections & audits, and permit issues.
  • Resolves parking and traffic conflicts.
  • Maintains positive public relations and act as liaison for department presenting favorable image of the department.
  • Responds to Parking & Traffic questions in person, by telephone, or through correspondence.
  • Reconciles parking accounts

Marginal Functions:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts parking surveys and studies for Police Chief and Chair of Parking Committee.
  • Formulates short and long range plans for parking regulations to present to the Parking & Security Committee.
  • Monitors and helps in preparation of annual budget
  • Publishes Parking and Traffic Rules and Regulations.
  • Responsible for training of Parking Controllers.

Supervision:

Received: Minimal daily supervision. Exercise initiative and independent judgment to determine work methods or approaches to work situations. Completed work is reviewed by the Police Chief for thoroughness, consistency and adherence to departmental policies.

Given: General supervision of Parking Controllers and clerical employees.

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in related field; or equivalent of education and experience

Preferred: N/A

Experience:

Required: 5 years progressively responsible positions in parking systems; supervisory experience; (High school Diploma and 10 years progressive experience). Ability to formulate short and long-range plans. Ability to train others. Excellent written and oral skills.

Preferred: Customer Service Training, Prior UT System Experience

Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):

Proficiency in all phases of duties performed. Most of work is indoors, some done outdoors.

Other:

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
