Summary:

Function & Scope: To provide the supervisory skills required in the operation of a stores unit and to set up an efficient system for storekeeping. Responsible for the maintenance of maximum and minimum stocks, and for the operation of an accounting system.

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervises the maintenance of records, the preparation of material orders, the receiving, inspecting, and storing of supplies disbursed on job orders and material transfers.
  • Assists with preparation and maintenance of a file of standardized ordering specifications.
  • Supervises the inventory of supplies stored in warehouse; prepares reports of stockroom condition and activity.

Marginal Functions:

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

Received: General supervision from the functional head.

Given: General supervision to all stores unit personnel.

Education:

Required: High school graduation.

Preferred: N/A

Experience:

Required: Five years of experience in the procurement, storage, issue, and accounting for property, including one year in a supervisory capacity.

Preferred: N/A

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the uses of office machines.

Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):

Extremely accurate in the maintenance of records and in preparing and submitting reports. Usual office conditions. Thorough knowledge of sources of supply of items relating to the specific department. Must have the ability to work cooperatively with other departments to determine their requirements and needs.

Other:

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior written approval of the Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Management.
