Summary:

Function & Scope:

This position will be responsible for sorting, logging, and delivery of all incoming and outgoing mail and packages to all UTD campuses ensuring timely delivery of supplies and mail.  All UTD departments will be impacted by this position.

 

Essential Functions:

Typical Essential Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Sort incoming mail and packages
  • Log all track-able packages into package tracking software
  • Deliver mail and packages using mail equipment or online shipping software
  • Receive incoming freight
  • Track packages using online shipping software

Marginal Functions:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Driving

  • Answering phones and email
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, employing sound financial and business practices, employing appropriate internal controls, and completing other duties as required.
  • Complete required supervisory training; orient, train, and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Required:

Two years experience Receiving/Mail processing

Preferred:

Three years experience Receiving/Mail processing

 

 

Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

USPS regulations and ability to use automated mail equipment, pallet jacks and forklift. Must be able to lift 70 pounds.

 

Special Job Requirements (such as hours, accuracy, special equipment and/or working conditions):

Valid Texas Drivers License.

OTHER: Requires ability to develop a thorough knowledge of University structure, policies, rules and procedures and of appropriate business practices and techniques.

If this is a supervisory position, the incumbent is expected to complete required supervisory training; orient, train and develop subordinates; provide appropriate coaching, guidance and supervision to subordinates; and complete annual performance evaluations.

Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification may render the position security sensitive; thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code.

Responsible for duties as assigned relating to internal controls including safe-guarding of department assets, reliability of department financial information, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
