Selective Service Registration Verification
Texas Government Code Title 6 Public Officers and Employees § 651.005 (scroll to section 651), as interpreted by the the Office of the Attorney General, requires all male US Citizens who are between the ages of 18 and 25 years inclusive to furnish proof of either selective service registration or exemption as a condition of state employment. Employees must complete the Selective Service Registration Verification Form and if eligible for the selective service program, provide proof of registration. Registered males will have a Selective Service System card. Or, using the on-line verification link, you may check your employee's registration and print out the confirmation i.e. the page with the Selective Service number. If your new employee is not registered, they may do so using the on-line registration link and provide you the print-out as registration confirmation.
Note* Lawfully admitted non-immigrant aliens (F, J, H, O, or TN status) are exempt from the requirement to register because they are residing in the U. S. temporarily, and but should complete the form and mark the appropriate box.
Proof of registration consists of one of the following:
- The Selective Service card issued upon registration, or
- Print out of the on-line confirmation.
