What is a new position?
A new position is defined as one that is not previously established in the Budget.
How do I determine the new position title?
The HRM Compensation division authorizes the appropriate title through the New Position Job Audit process, which is initiated when a completed Classified Position Description Form
or A & P Position Description Form
is submitted to HRM.
When do I need a new position request form?
A New Position Request Form
is required when an administrator determines that the current work load requires another position.
When do I complete a new position request form?
Generally, new positions are requested during the annual operating budget development process and must be approved by the appropriate Executive Vice-President and Provost or Vice-President. Outside of the budget development process the position request must be approved by the appropriate Executive Vice-President, Provost, or Vice-President and the President.
Special note:
Approval by the President's Cabinet is required for FTE increases in accounts funded by General University Budgets (State, Designated Tuition, Univeristy Fees).
Callier is an exception from this requirement.
Movement of positions from other funding sources to accounts funded by General University Budgets (see FY07 Budget Policy Section 1.2.3.1) is considered an increase in FTE and the above approval applies.
New Positions funded from State (2xxxxx) and Designated Tuition Accounts (3161xx, 3163xx, and 3169xx) must also be approved by the President.
