International Student Orientation

International Student Orientation provides valuable information to ease your transition to UT Dallas. During Orientation you can discover campus resources, fulfill your International Student Orientation requirement, and answer questions about registering for classes.

International Student Orientation is mandatory for F-1 and J-1 visa holders enrolling at UT Dallas for the first time. It is also required of students changing their visa status to F-1. Once you attend International Student Orientation and complete the mandatory pre-arrival modules, your orientation registration hold will be removed.

Graduate & Exchange

Undergraduate

International undergraduate students are strongly encouraged to attend Freshman Orientation or Transfer Orientation. A special meeting at these orientations will fulfill your International Student Orientation requirement. Check your Freshman or Transfer Orientation agenda for timing and location of this meeting.

If you cannot attend Freshman Orientation or Transfer Orientation, you can register for International Student Orientation. Available Spring 2017 International Student Orientation dates are:

Monday, January 9, 2017 (Note: January 9 is the first day of Spring 2017 classes. If you choose to register for this date, you may miss classes.)

Click on the date above to register. If you cannot make the date listed above, email [email protected] to make other arrangements

Change of Status

International Student Orientation is required of all F-1 students their first semester at UT Dallas. If you have not attended an International Student Orientation previously, a hold will be added to your UT Dallas record once you apply for change of status. The hold prevents class registration, and can only be removed once the requirement is fulfilled.

There are two ways for change of status students to fulfill the International Student Orientation requirement:

    1. Attend any regularly scheduled International Student Orientation, hosted at the beginning of each semester.
    2. Attend a Changing to F-1 Status Workshop, hosted monthly. Note: this option is only for continuing (not prospective) UTD students.
