Patching Windows: Opt-out for Automated Patching of Windows Hosts
Information Resources is pleased to provide an Automated Windows Updating service that utilizes the Software Update Services (SUS) tool from Microsoft. With SUS, critical updates and patches can be applied to computers running Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Automatic Windows Updating will be applied automatically to all computers that are part of the CAMPUS domain. However, computers that are not part of the domain can also be configured by their administrators to be patched automatically by following these instructions.
Information Resources is aware that this service may not be suitable for some CAMPUS domain computers, such as servers with special requirements, and we, therefore, provide this mechanism to "opt-out" of this service.
This form will send your system information to Information Resources for EXCLUSION from the Automated Windows Updating service (SUS). The intent of this service is to ensure that all UT Dallas computers are kept updated with the latest patches, particularly those relating to security. By electing to "opt-out" of this service, you accept the responsibility to maintain the indicated computer. Computers which become network threats are subject to removal from the network.
