Dear UT Dallas Community Member,

I am writing to inform you that The University of Texas at Dallas discovered a breach of security within its computing network that could have resulted in the exposure of your personally identifiable information. The potential disclosure of data was initially discovered July 12 by the Information Resources staff, which immediately began a thorough investigation and remediation effort.

The information at risk of exposure includes names, addresses, Social Security numbers, email addresses and telephone numbers.  On behalf of the department of Information Resources and the University administration, I offer our apologies.

While the university does not seek to minimize the impact of this incident, there is no indication that the information has been disclosed, disseminated or used to anyone's detriment at this time. The University is actively cooperating with law enforcement agencies to identify the source of this attack, and in the best interests of those potentially affected, seeks to notify anyone whose information may have been disclosed.
