- Effective Fall 2009, international students will be able to request a waiver of the Student Health Insurance plan for up to three semesters. Go to Annual Waivers for more information.
- Effective Spring 2009, all international students (students who are not US Citizens, US Permanent Residents, Asylees, Refugees or undocumented aliens) will be assessed the Student Health Insurance (SHI) fee at the time of registration for classes.
The Fall 2009 waiver period has ended. Insured students will begin receiving their insurance card by mail shortly.

New Services and Policy Changes For 2009-2010 Academic Year
- TB blood test (quantiferon gold) is now payable under tests & procedures
- Wellness/Preventative Care benefit added, $500 maximum per policy year
- Prescriptions Drug maximum increased from $1,000 to $1,300 per policy year
- Graduates working on research/dissertation and thesis, post doctorate students, scholars, fellows and visiting scholars are eligible to enroll in the plan on a voluntary basis.
The Student Health Insurance office provides assistance to all students requesting information about the insurance policy, filing claims, finding medical care, understanding the explanation of benefits, etc. The Student Health Insurance Office also makes available to all students confidential counseling about their insurance related issues.
