Info Security Offers Tips to Protect Data

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

The Information Security Office is responsible for providing a secure computing environment at UT Dallas. Cybersecurity is everyone's responsibility and you can help make a difference. We encourage you to practice the following basic steps to protect your computer(s) from intrusions:

• Use strong passwords and change them regularly; don't use the same password for multiple sites.
• Be skeptical of emails asking you to go to a website to enter a user name and password.
• Do not click on links in emails or Instant Messenger. Viruses are often spread this way.
• Save files containing confidential data in secure locations.
• Keep computers updated with the latest system and application patches.

Payroll Adds Automatic-Deposit Safeguards

For the protection of UT Dallas employees, an automated email notification from the Payroll Department will go out when a change is made to direct deposit information via the self-service function on Galaxy. If you receive this automated notification and you did not initiate a change to your information, or if you have any other questions regarding your direct deposit information, contact the Payroll Department at (972) 883-2611.
