Parking and Transportation Announces
Program to Reduce Citation Balances

UT Dallas Parking and Transportation Services is offering a two-week citation forgiveness program Nov. 11-25, during which students, faculty and staff can reduce their outstanding parking citation balances.

Through this program, the parking office will waive 50 percent of a participant's total citation balance, excluding all moving, handicap, fire lane, expired meter and fraud violations. Participants will be required to pay their adjusted balances in full, and must also purchase a parking permit if they do not have an active permit on their accounts. READ MORE

Electrical Engineering Professor Appointed Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in ECS

Dr. Poras T. Balsara, professor of electrical engineering, has been named associate dean for academic affairs in the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science. Balsara has previously served as the Jonsson School's interim department head of electrical engineering and interim associate dean of academic affairs. The announcement of Balsara's appointment follows a national search. Balsara earned a diploma in electrical engineering from what was formerly known as the Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute, a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Bombay, and master's and doctoral degrees from Penn State University. He joined UT Dallas in 1989 and has been a visiting researcher at Texas Instruments.

Retirement Sessions Set for Spanish Speakers

Spanish-language retirement planning sessions will be held Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the conference room of the Facilities Management building. UT Dallas staffers are encouraged to help spread the word to employees who may be interested. Sign-up sheets will be available at the Facilities Management and Safety and Grounds buildings.

Employees Invited to Attend 27th Annual Service Awards

President David E. Daniel congratulated Judy Snellings for 30 years of service at an awards ceremony last year.

All UT Dallas employees are invited to attend the Annual Service Awards presentation and reception Nov. 19, 2-4 p.m., at the Alexander Clark Center, CN 1.112. Staff and faculty who reached service milestones of five, 10, 20, 30 and 40 years with the University during the 2013 fiscal year will be recognized, along with the members of the new Quarter Century Club. Charitable Campaign Enters Final Stretch for Pledges

Faculty and staff members have passed the $90,000 mark in the University's goal to match or exceed last year's total $122,000 in donations to the State Employee Charitable Campaign. The deadline for pledging payroll-deductible gifts is Nov. 15. The dozens of charities that employees have to choose from include the University's own Academic Bridge Program and Callier Center for Communication Disorders. GIVE NOW
