Parking Office Announces Program to Reduce Citation Balances

UT Dallas Parking and Transportation Services will offer a two-week citation forgiveness program Nov. 11-25, during which students, faculty and staff can reduce their outstanding parking citation balances.

Through this program, the parking office will waive 50 percent of a participant's total citation balance, excluding all moving, handicap, fire lane, expired meter and fraud violations. Participants will be required to pay their adjusted balances in full, and must also purchase a parking permit if they do not have an active permit on their account.

"The goal of the forgiveness program is to assist customers with becoming compliant with UT Dallas parking policies and avoiding additional citations," said Cris Aquino, director for parking and transportation services. "We are hopeful the campus community will take advantage of this opportunity."

To enroll, email your full name and contact information to [email protected] during the allotted two-week period. A Parking and Transportation representative will contact each enrollee to schedule a meeting to discuss the adjusted balance. Requests received after Nov. 25 will not be processed.

In an effort to protect the parking privileges of those who abide by the University's parking policy, Parking and Transportation will soon implement stricter enforcement policies. Vehicles with excessive parking citation balances may be subject to booting or towing. One of the purposes of the citation forgiveness program is to give drivers with outstanding citations the opportunity to settle their balances before the towing program begins.

"The University's overall goal is to continue to enhance our service levels, and the forgiveness program is just one of many initiatives under way to foster this environment throughout campus," said Dr. Calvin Jamison, vice president for the Office of Administration. "We are working hard to make parking a seamless part of the University experience."
