Employees Step Up to Give in Annual Campaign
SECC

Each year UT Dallas joins forces with other entities for the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) to raise funds for a number of local, national and international nonprofit organizations.

During the recent 2013 campaign, University faculty and staff members again opened their hearts, contributing more than $120,000 to the cause.

"This year more than 220 agencies, large and small, throughout North Texas and beyond will receive funds as a result of the campaign," said Dwight Clasby, assistant vice president for development and campaign coordinator. READ MORE

Staffers Urged to Exercise Caution During Flu Season

As North Texas battles a particularly tough flu season, the University reminds staff and faculty members who feel ill to remain home instead of coming to work.

This is considerate to fellow employees, who otherwise run the risk of infection. It's also best for University productivity.

Because symptoms vary, employees must exercise some judgment, as with any illness. Persistent sneezing and coughing are particularly problematic, however, and should be taken very seriously.

Employees are asked to contact Human Resources with any questions.

The athletic training staff at UT Dallas has been named co-winner of the 2012-13 American Southwest Conference Athletic Training Staff of the Year Award. The honor is the fourth such award the staff has won since 2008-09, which ties the league record.

The sports medicine staff is led by head athletic trainer Tom Monagan, who is in his fourth year at the University. Monagan also serves as the school's associate athletic director for student services. The Comets' assistant athletic trainers are Kurt Kammerer, who is in his eighth year, and Yukari Miyagi, who is in her fourth year.
