New Chief Information Security Officer Named
to Protect Information Assets, Manage Risks

Nate Howe

UT Dallas has appointed Nate Howe as the University’s new director of information security and chief information security officer.

Howe will manage all aspects of the information security program and will develop partnerships, measure the risk environment and build a culture of security awareness. His first day on the job was March 17.

"Organizations continue to struggle with the concept of risk elimination versus risk management; it is too disruptive and expensive to eliminate all risks," Howe said. "Instead I create conversations between stakeholders, and together we identify scenarios most likely to have significant impact on security." READ MORE

International Student Services
to Administer Study Abroad

The UT Dallas International Student Services Office (ISSO) and Office of International Education have joined forces to serve international students moving to the U.S. to study at UT Dallas as well as students planning to study abroad.

The newly merged office will provide single-point services for study abroad, student immigration services, international student programs, collaborative agreements and international mobility services.

Led by Cristen Casey, ISSO director, these offices are now housed in the Student Services Building (SSB 3.400). Under the new organizational structure, Dr. Rodolfo Hernandez will continue to provide leadership for international collaborative agreements, international risk management, and the Center for U.S.-Latin America Initiatives (CUSLAI).  The department will hire a new director to further expand and strengthen study abroad offerings.

The changes are designed to support the growing international community at UT Dallas and to help the University provide Tier One-focused international programs and services.
