Development Fair to Help Employees Hone Professional Skills

The UT Dallas Trainer Alliance will present a Professional Development Fair on Thursday, Dec. 4, in celebration of the Association of Talent Development’s Employee Learning Week. The fair, scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon, will be in the Founders Building’s second-floor atrium.

Representatives of 11 campus departments that offer training will be on hand to help you discover your learning potential. “Training is a great way to cultivate and advance your personal and professional skill set,” said Jessie Bortz, a time and absence trainer in the Payroll and Data Management office. Volunteers Sought for ‘Aiming for the Stars’ Academic Bowl

Aiming for the Stars needs mentors, coaches and teams to participate in an academic bowl Jan. 31 at UT Dallas. African-American boys in grades 4-8 will test their academic skills, wit and brain power in the tournament.

The sixth annual event is hosted by UT Dallas, Dallas County Community College District, Project Still I Rise, State Sen. Royce West, AT&T and other community partners. Each team will have three students and one coach. The deadline to enter a team or volunteer is Jan. 13. Power Outage to Close Some Buildings Over Thanksgiving Break

Facilities Management plans to cut power to a number of campus buildings 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, so that work crews can complete an electrical maintenance project. Employees with offices in these buildings are urged to power down all computer equipment before they leave for Thanksgiving break to avoid loss of data. No one will be allowed to enter these buildings without UT Dallas Police authorization during the outage.

The affected buildings include: Founders North (FN), Jonsson Academic Center (JO), University Theatre (TH), Cecil Ida Green Center (GC), Cecil H. Green Hall (GR), Administration Building (AD), Visual Arts Studio (AS), Physics Building (PHY), English Language Center (ELS), North Office Building (NB), North Lab (NL), Parking Structure 3 (PS3), including Einstein Bros. Bagels and the Auxiliary Services, Parking and Transportation Offices. The parking areas of PS3 will remain open and emergency power will remain unaffected throughout the outage.

Human Resources to Host Informational Forum
The Office of Human Resources will host a forum to share important information on policy and procedure changes and provide updates from all areas of HR, including benefits, employee services, employee relations, institutional equity, and organizational development and training. Attendees will be able to learn about new programs, ask questions, share feedback and network with colleagues. The event will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, in JSOM 2.106.
