Employees Urged to be Ready for Benefit Enrollment July 15-31

Be sure you have access to the Internet and your UT Dallas email July 15–31 to participate in the annual benefits enrollment period. You will be able to make changes to your benefits, enroll or re-enroll in UT FLEX, and add or remove dependents from your coverage plan.

The UT System Office of Employee Benefits will announce any changes to the FY15-16 benefits plans in its A Matter of Health newsletter in early July. Please monitor your University email account for this information and for campus-specific details from UT Dallas Benefits. Enrollment must be completed by midnight July 31 Central time.

University Revises Staff and Faculty Email Hosting Strategy

Information Resources has canceled plans to switch staff and faculty members to the Microsoft Office 365 cloud email system.

In a change from the initial transition plan, staff and faculty will remain on the Exchange email system, which many employees access through Outlook on their desktops or the Internet-based Outlook Web App. The University will support Office 365 for students only. Read more

Dining Services Offers Summer Plans, Extends Spirit Friday Deal

Dining Services has created two summer meal plans for primary use in Dining Hall West, as well as on-campus retail dining locations. The summer meal plans started with breakfast on May 25 and will end with dinner on Aug. 8.

In addition, the dining hall “Spirit Friday” program has been extended through the summer. Faculty and staff members who wear orange, green or UT Dallas-branded clothing on Fridays can eat lunch at Dining Hall West for $5 (plus tax). Dining Hall West is open for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day this summer. The Student Union Dining Hall will remain closed during the summer for renovation. Carter BloodCare Seeks Donors for UT Dallas Stop on June 16

Make an appointment to donate blood on Tuesday, June 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., when the Carter BloodCare bus stops outside the Activity Center. Participants will receive a buy-one-get-one-free voucher for tickets to a Texas Rangers game and a pair of sunglasses. The blood drive is organized by the Office of Student Volunteerism.

Emergency Management Asks Campus to be Weather Aware

The Office of Emergency Management urges the campus to be mindful of weather forecasts during storm season. Faculty and staff members are encouraged to monitor campus notification systems, such as email, UTDAlert and the outdoor and indoor warning systems, and know the appropriate emergency response procedures. If a tornado warning is issued, head for a marked “Severe Weather Shelter Area” or an interior room without windows on the ground or basement level. UTD Bookstore Soliciting Textbook Orders for Next Semesters

The UT Dallas Bookstore asks instructors and their staff members to submit book orders for the summer or fall semesters as soon as possible. Orders can be placed at eFollett.com’s Online Adoptions site. New users will need to register. The password is 1163. Fill in your name and register as an Approver Only. Library Reserves Office Moves to New Home on First Floor

The McDermott Library Reserves office has moved from the third floor to MC 1.406R. The new office is across the hall from the Student Success Center classrooms in the library basement. The phone number will remain 972-883-2587, and the mail station will still be MC 33.

HR Website Posts Holiday Schedule for 2016 Fiscal Year

UT Dallas Police Class Teaches Self-Defense Skills to Women

The UT Dallas Police Department teaches women how to protect themselves with a system of self-defense tactics called the Rape Aggression Defense program. This course, which is open to all female faculty and staff members, will be offered 5 to 8:30 p.m., June 16-18. Participants should plan to attend all three nights.
