The UT Dallas Annual Benefits Enrollment period continues through Friday, July 31. During this time, eligible employees, retirees and surviving dependents can sign up for or change their insurance benefits for the coming fiscal year.

The UT System Office of Employee Benefits recently issued individual Annual Enrollment Coverage Option Letters. The letters list each employee’s current coverage selections, provide a login PIN and explain how to use My UT Benefits to enroll for 2015-16. Email [email protected] if you have not received your letter.

Employees who have been hired, qualified for benefits or experienced a life event change such as marriage, divorce or birth of a child between July 1, 2015, and Aug. 31, 2015, should contact a benefits administrator within 31 days of the event to enroll. You will not need to go through My UT Benefits, but you may have to enroll separately for the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 fiscal years.

Within 24 hours of enrolling, you should receive a confirmation email. Print and keep it for your records. Evidence of Insurability forms for life and long-term care insurance are due Aug. 15. Selections for the next plan year will take effect Sept. 1 and will be reflected on your Oct. 1 paycheck for review.

If you do not wish to change your coverage, your current elections, as listed in the Coverage Option Letter, will continue except for UT FLEX. If you want to enroll or continue participation in UT FLEX, you must make the election online each year.

For more information, review the annual enrollment FAQs, or visit the UT Dallas Benefits Web page and the UT System Employee Benefits website.

Employees working 30 to 39 hours per week qualify for insurance with premiums shared by the state at the full rate. The monthly out-of-pocket costs will be the same as they are for full-time employees. For details, call Human Resources or visit the UT Dallas Benefits website.

Retirement jar
Employee contribution rates to the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) will increase over the next two years. The member contribution rate, which is now 6.7 percent, will rise to 7.2 percent on Sept. 1. The 2015 change will be reflected on Oct. 1 paychecks.

The rate rises again to 7.7 percent on Sept. 1, 2016. In 2017, if the state reduces its contribution rate to less than 6.8 percent, the employee rate will fall by an equivalent percentage. Read More
