|President ad interim Hobson Wildenthal will welcome new students at the University Convocation on Sunday, Aug. 23.|
The convocation is the first step in a student's academic journey at UT Dallas and the official welcome for all incoming freshmen and transfer students.
The theme this year is “Service Matters: In My Home, On My Campus, In My Community, Around the World.”
The keynote speaker is Gary S. May, dean of Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering.
May’s field of research is computer-aided manufacturing of integrated circuits. He is the author of more than 200 technical publications and has contributed to 15 books and participated in acquiring more than $49 million in research funding.
He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech, and master’s and doctoral degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California at Berkeley.
Faculty should dress in business casual attire or formal regalia. Staff should dress in business casual attire. Please notify the Office of Undergraduate Education if you plan to attend, using the University Convocation RSVP Form.
