University Unveils New Mobile-Friendly Monogram

UTD Monogram

President Richard C. Benson and his Cabinet have approved a new monogram to better retain UT Dallas’ identity across digital platforms. The new monogram — a shortened version of the University’s logo — was driven by students’ needs, said Lauraine O’Neil, associate vice president for marketing.

“The existing UT Dallas logo with the state of Texas will still be prominently and frequently used in various media and signage, but it does not adapt well to small-screened mobile devices and promotional items,” O'Neil explained. “Since our audiences are technologically savvy and very active users of digital platforms, we designed the UTD monogram in response to our audience's needs. The new UTD monogram allows a better balance between maintaining the University's brand and communicating a message effectively.”

Creative director LeeDon Moore MFA’14 said digital phones and social media are driving design changes. “People don’t want to have to scroll past a logo. They want their information quickly,” Moore said.

Both the University logo and versions of the new monogram are available for campus use across all media, including stationery, business cards and promotional items.
