We Want Your Number!

Provide your cell phone number so that UT Dallas can send you text alerts in the event of an emergency or disruption to normal University operations. Go to our quick access page here to get started. Also, step-by-step instructions can be found here. For more information about the University’s transition to the new notification system, see News Center.

FTP Server New!

The University of Texas at Austin's public FTP server, ftp.utexas.edu, provides exact local copies (mirrors) of the content of popular download sites. This mirrored content can be accessed by members of the university community, which helps lessen the demands placed on the university's external Internet. Visit the FTP server to access popular mirrored sites such as Apple, FreeBSD, MySQL, Netscape, Perl, RedHat Linux, and Windows.

Mathematica Offer for Graduates

Wolfram Research , the makers of Mathematica, is offering recent graduates the chance to upgrade from Mathematica for Students to the professional version of Mathematica — with one year of Premier Service included — at an 80% discount off of the commercial list price. Interested students can email info@wolfram.com or order by phone at 1-800-WOLFRAM (965-3726).

Mathematica License Explanation

The site license currently provides access to Mathematica, Network Mathematica, webMathematica Amateur and Wolfram Workbench. Network licenses are available for use on UTD owned computers on the UTD network. For non-networked (or sometimes networked - a laptop perhaps) UTD owned systems, there is a local machine license.
