Methodology: A methodology is a body of methods, rules, and postulates employed by a discipline. A methodology is a particular procedure or set of procedures that enable a systematic plan of inquiry or accomplishment to be followed toward a defined objective.

A methodology is a way, a technique, or a process of or a process for doing something.

A methodology consists of a proven series of steps and tasks to be followed to build systems or products faster, at lower costs, with less risk. Exact methodologies to be used should be appropriate to the size, type, and scope of a project.

In very simple terms, a methodology may be nothing more than a detailed recipe for making a cake or a batch of cookies.

There are a number of formal, structured methodologies utilized in various business environments. Computer software development and engineering processes make use of the greatest number. Some examples of methodologies include Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Total Quality Management-based Systems Development process, Princeton Development methodology, and Rapid Application Development (RAD).
