Policies for all Public Access Unix Systems at UTD
These policies are an extension of the 'Policies for Use of Computer Accounts' and have been added to benefit the maximum number of our unix user population.
- IRC -- The University of Texas at Dallas currently does not recognize IRC as being a requirement for the completion of any course work. It will not help nor provide any user with information, source code or binaries needed in order to access IRC. The use of IRC is discouraged in order to allow others to work on their course work. IRC processes may be killed without notification of the owner.
- IRC and BOTS -- Having stated the above policy, the University of Texas at Dallas does not allow nor will it tolerate any IRC robots of any kind to run on its systems. Any IRC bots found to be running may be killed without notification of the owner. Repeated violations of this policy may result in the loss of computing access.
- Resource Limits -- These systems may have limits to the number of processes a user is allowed to run. Processes may also be limited to a maximum amount of CPU time allowed. These limits may differ on each system, depending on that systems charter.
- Sockets Programming -- Sockets programming is strictly prohibited on all general access systems at the University of Texas at Dallas. Any such processes are subject to termination without notice.
