Connect to the CometNet Network on Windows 7
Note: Windows 7 should automatically configure itself for use on CometNet, in some cases you might have to manually configure your wireless settings in order to access the campus wireless network.
CometNet Wireless Automatic setup in Windows 7
Select the Wireless Utility Icon located on your task bar > Under "Wireless Network Connection" select CometNet and make sure "Connect Automatically" is checked.
After selecting "Connect" > you should be prompted for your log credentials. You will login with your net id and password.

CometNet Wireless Manual setup in Windows 7
Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Manage wireless networks and Select Add


Manually create a network Profile
Network Name: CometNet
Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption type: AES
Check "Start this connection automatically” select Next

The next window should display “Successfully added CometNet”, select Change

Under the Connection tab make sure "Connect automatically when this network is in range” is checked

Under the Security tab
Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption type: AES
Choose a network Authentication method: Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Make sure to check “Remember my credentials for this connection each time I'm logged on”
Select “Settings” for Protected EAP Properties

Protected EAP Properties
Check “Validate server certificate”
Check “Connect to theses servers” and type in 8021x.utdallas.edu. Under “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” Check AddTrust External CA Root Select authentication Method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)

Select configure and Uncheck “Automatically use my Windows login name and password (and domain if any)”
Select “Ok” for all opened widows; you should be prompted for your log credentials. You will login with your net id and password.
