Connect to the CometNet2 Network on Windows Vista
- Click on Start, and then Connect to...
- Click on Set Up a Connection or Network, located under the list of wireless networks.

- Choose to Manually Connect to a Wireless Network.
- For the network name, type in "CometNet2" (without quotes), and select WPA2-Enterprise for the security with AES as the encryption type. Then click next.
- You'll get a window saying you are successfully connected, however, please click on Change Connection Settings. A few more details need to be changed, or else the internet will not work.
- Go to the Security tab, and make sure the authentication method is Protected EAP. Then click on the settings button next to that box.

- Select to Validate Server Certificate, and for Connect to these servers, type in "8021x.utdallas.edu" (without quotes). Select "Class 3 Primary Certification Authority" for the Root Certification Authority.
Make sure your authentication method is "Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)", and check "Enable Fast Reconnect". Then click Configure...
- Uncheck the box that says "Automatically use my Windows logon".
- Click okay on the remaining boxes so that you are back to the screen below. Now click on Connect to...
- Select CometNet2 on the following screen
- Click on "Enter/Select additional log on information"
- Enter your NetID and password into the boxes, but leave the Logon Domain box blank.
- Wait while you computer connects to the network...
- You should be connected successfully! If it isn't working, or if you're having issues, please contact the Help Desk in Sonora and Jonnson computer labs.
