How To...
Connect to the CometNet2 Network on Windows XP
- Click on the Start menu, then head to Control Panel.

- Click on Network and Internet Connections.
- Click on Network Connections.
- Right click on your wireless connection, then select Properties.
- Under the Wireless Networks tab, click on Add...
- Under the Association tab, fill in "CometNet2" (without quotes) for Network name. Select WPA2 for the Authentication, and AES for Data encryption.
The checkbox for "Connect even if this network is not broadcasting" does not need to be selected.
Please Note!! If you cannot see WPA2 as an authentication option, you can download an update from Microsoft here to fix it.

- Click on the Authentication tab, and select Protected EAP for the EAP type. Then click on Properties.

- Click on the checkbox for Validate Server Certificate, then under "Connect to these servers", type in "8021x.utdallas.edu" (without quotes).
For the Root Certification Authorities, select "Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority".
For the Authentication Method at the bottom, select "Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)", and "Enable Fast Reconnect".
- Click "Configure..." (next to the Authentication method), and unclick the checkbox that says "Use my Windows logon".

- Click okay on all the boxes, until the only open window is the Network Connections page. A dialog box should appear in the bottom right corner, asking for credentials to logon to CometNet2.

- Click on that dialog, and a popup window asking for your username and password will appear. Enter your netID and password into the boxes, but leave the "Logon domain" box empty.

- You should be successfully connected! If you have any problems, or for some reason it is not connected, please visit the Help Desk in the Sonora and Jonnson computer labs.
