MATLAB InformationMATLAB is a highly popular computing tool that is available to students using the on-campus UTDallas computers, as well as Faculty, staff, PhD candidates, TAs, and RAs. MATLAB is a fourth generation programming language and comes with many tools and available ways of analyzing data, including matrix manipulation, plotting of functions and data, and many other popular functions. The University has acquired a Total Academic Headcount (TAH) MATLAB license that vastly improves access to this critical software suite. It includes unlimited seats of all currently licensed products and adds eight (8) additional products. Individual academic users paid by UTDallas (such as Faculty, Staff, PhD candidates, TAs, or RAs). can install a standalone copy on non-networked systems, laptops, and home systems. In order to use a standalone license, also known as "Designated Computer Activation," you must set up a Mathworks Account using your netid@utdallas.edu email address and send a notification to: TAH license administrators will associate your account with the university's license. Once your account is associated with the license you will be able to activate your software upon installation. Mathworks accounts can be set up through this link: http://www.mathworks.com/accesslogin/createProfile.do Network licenses should be used for fixed-location networked on-campus computers as is current practice, such as for computer labs. This allows the license to be centrally managed. StudentsStudents other than PhD candidates, TAs, or RAs are not eligible for standalone licenses. However, they can buy a student version for use on personal computers from the Campus Computer Store. The student version is not as robust as the full program available on UTDallas owned computers, and therefore does not have all of the same features. It does include many of the essential tools found in the full version. For more information on the student version, follow this link to the UTD Technology Store, MATLAB & Simulink Student Version Release 2011A Mac/PC/Linux. Fixed:The mix of toolboxes can be changed yearly except for these first sixteen; these are fixed.
Changeable:The following toolboxes are currently available. This list is re-evaluated annually. Every Summer the list is reviewed and a collection of toolboxes are selected for the following year. The license is renewed every August 1. If you would like to suggest a toolbox, please send an email to tahrequest@utdallas.edu.
