How To Change Your Power Options - XPUsing the following directions, you can change your power options in XP so that you can use the Remote Desktop feature and still do tasks on your work computer. ***In order to finish setting up your desktop for Remote Access, you MUST enable remote access. Thankfully, we thought ahead and made a How-To that shows you how to do just that. Please go HERE before/after these changes have been made.*** Step 1 - Click Start, and open the Control Panel
Step 2 - After you have opened the Control Panel, in the Classic View, find and open Power Options.
Step 3 - After you have the Power Options Properties window opened, in the Power Options Tab, change the options next to "Turn off hard disks" and "System Standby" to "Never".
Step 4 - Click the Hibernate Tab at the top of the window, and uncheck the the box next to "Enable Hibernation". After the box is unchecked, click Apply and OK to finish. Don't forget to change your computer so that Remote Access is enabled. You can learn how to do that for XP HERE.
Your computer is now set up to not turn off on it's own and to allow you to access it using Remote Desktop. | |||
