How To...
Sync Exchange 2010 with Outlook Anywhere
Click Start and select Control Panel then select either “View by” Large icons or Small icons.
After selecting the Mail icon the Mail setup window should be displayed, click on E-mail Accounts.
When the Add New E-mail Account window is displayed select Microsoft Exchange as your E-mail Service. Check the option for “Manually configure server settings or additional server types”.
On the Exchange Server Settings page, type in the FQDN of the front-end Exchange Server. This must be the same name used on the Web site certificate you have assigned to the front-end Exchange Server’s Web site. For example, we obtained a Web site certificate for the front-end Exchange Server’s Web site. The Common Name (CN) on the Web site certificate is webmail.utdallas.edu
Insert outlook.utdallas.edu in the Microsoft Exchange Server text box. This is EXTREMELY important.
Type your Net ID in the User Name text box. We will “Click” the Check Name button after we complete the setup to confirm that the Outlook 2007 client machine can communicate with the front-end Exchange Server.
Put a checkmark in the Use Cached Exchange Mode checkbox.
Click the More Settings button.
You can change how Outlook detects the connection state on the General tab of the Microsoft Exchange Server dialog box. Do not make any changes here unless you have an explicit reason to do so.

Click on the Advanced tab. Confirm that there is a checkmark in the Use Cached Exchange Mode checkbox. The default selection is Download shared folders you can also select Download Public Folder Favorites as an option.

Click on the Security tab. Put a checkmark in the Encrypt data between Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Exchange checkbox. For Logon network security select Negotiate Authentication.
Click on the Connection tab. Select the Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN) option. Put a checkmark in the Connect to Exchange mailbox using HTTP, and then click the Exchange Proxy Settings button.

You configure the specifics of the RPC over HTTP session in the Exchange Proxy Settings dialog box.
Type in webmail.utdallas.edu for your front-end Exchange Server in the Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange text box.
Put a checkmark in Connect using SSL only as well as Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate checkbox. Put in the FQDN of the front-end Exchange Server (the same name listed on the Web site certificate) in the Principal name for proxy server text box. Use the format:
msstd:FQDN
For example, we use msstd:webmail.utdallas.edu for our published front-end Exchange Server because the Common Name on the certificate is webmail.utdallas.edu.
Check both On fast networksandOn slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP check box.
In the Use this authentication when connecting to my proxy server for Exchange drop down box, select the Basic Authentication option. This forces you to use SSL, which is OK, because we are using SSL for our links.
Click OK on the Exchange Proxy Settings dialog box.
Click Apply and OK on the Microsoft Exchange Server dialog box.

You will be returned to the “Add New E-mail Account” window. “Click” the Check Name button to confirm that the Outlook 2007 client machine can communicate with the front-end Exchange Server.
You will be prompted for your net id and password, place “campus\” in front of your net id to log into the campus domain.
Click Next on the Exchange Server Settings page.
Click Finish on the Congratulations! Page.

The next time you open Outlook you should be prompted for your Net ID and password. In order to continue, you must type in "campus\" followed directly by your Net ID as shown below. Then type in your password and click OK to finish.
