Sync Mozilla Thunderbird with Exchange
The following instructions are for configuring Exchange webmail.utdallas.edu for use with the Mozilla Thunderbird mail client.
- Select Create a new account after which the Mail Account Setup window should be displayed.

After entering Your name, Net id email address, and Net id Password select Remember password then Continue. Note (You may also select Remember password if you wish the local mail client to cache your current net id password)

Thunderbird will attempt to automatically configure your account settings select STOP and enter in the following information:
Username: NET ID
Incoming mail server: webmail.utdallas.edu
IMAP Port#: 993
Connection security: SSL/TLS
Outgoing mail server: smtpauth.utdallas.edu
SMTP (by default) Port#: 587
Connection security: STARTTLS
After entering the configuration information select Manual Setup.

Under Sever Settings the server type configuration should be the same as the Mail account setup. Additional mailbox settings and features may be altered, but it is advised that you keep the default configuration. Note (even though secure authentication is not checked your net id/password are still being transmitted over an encrypted connection)

Under Outgoing Server (SMTP) in Account settings select the edit option for smtpauth.utdallas.edu outgoing mail server.
Once again your outgoing mail server settings should match the Mail account setup configuration, select OK.
Select Get mail and your recently created mailbox should begin downloading your mail from the Exchange server.
