Configure desktop email clients to access your UTD Exchange email account.

On-Campus Setup:

Access your UTD Exchange email account with Outlook. (campus network only)

  1. Click on Start, then Control Panel.
  2. Switch “View by” to either Large or Small Icons, then look for Mail.
  3. In the Mail Setup panel, click on E-mail Accounts.
  4. In the Account Settings window, click on the button titled New…
  5. In the Add New Account panel… If you have a UTD Exchange email account and are on the campus network, the fields should automatically fill with your information, so click Next.
  6. The next page should show successful connections to the server, as shown below. Once it does, click Finish to completed setting up your account.

Access your UTD Exchange email account with Outlook 2011 for Mac.

  1. Open Outlook 2011. Click on Outlook in the Menu Bar, then click on Preferences.
  2. In the Outlook Preferences panel, click on Accounts.
  3. Under Accounts, click the “+” in the bottom left corner to add a new account.
  4. Fill out the account information as follows, then click Add Account.
    • E-mail address: Your UTD email address
    • Method: User Name and Password
    • User name: campus\NetID
    • Password: Your NetID password
    • Configure automatically: Check the box

  5. Name the account, then verify the details are correct, then close the Accounts panel.

Access your UTD Exchange email account with the Mac Mail application. (campus network only)

  1. Open Mail.app. Click on Mail in the Menu Bar, then click on Preferences.
  2. Under Accounts, click the “+” in the bottom left corner to add a new account.
  3. Fill out the account information as follows, then click Continue.
    • Full Name: Your Full Name
    • Email Address: netid@utdallas.edu
    • Password: Your account password

  4. The next panel displays a summary of the account information and settings. Verify that:
    • Account Type: Exchange
    • Server Address: webmail.utdallas.edu
    If you would like your Exchange Calendar to be setup in iCal, check the box.
  5. Click Create to finish the account setup.

Outlook Web Access allows you to access your UTD Exchange email and calendar online, anywhere.

Access your UTD Exchange email account with Outlook (any network)

  1. Go to Start then click on Control Panel.
  2. Switch “View by” to either Large or Small Icons, then look for Mail.
  3. In the Mail Setup panel, click on E-mail Accounts.
  4. In the Account Settings window, click on the button titled New…
  5. In the Add New E-mail Account panel, choose Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP and click Next.
  6. Check the box to Manually configure server settings or additional server types, then click Next.
  7. Choose Microsoft Exchange, then click Next.
  8. On the Microsoft Exchange Settings page, enter the following information:
    • Microsoft Exchange Server: outlook.utdallas.edu
    • Use Cached Exchange Mode: check the box
    • User Name: NetID
    Then click More Settings.
  9. Under the Advanced tab, verify that Use Cached Exchange Mode is checked.
  10. Under the Security tab, check the box for Encrypt data between Microsoft Office Outlook….
  11. Under the Connection tab:
    • Choose Connect using my Local Area Network (LAN)
    • Check the box for Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP
    Then click on Exchange Proxy Settings.
  12. In the Microsoft Exchange Proxy Settings panel, enter the following:
    • Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange: webmail.utdallas.edu
    • Check all of the boxes.
    • Enter msstd:webmail.utdallas.edu in the remaining empty box.
    • Under Proxy authentication settings, choose NTLM Authentication from the dropdown.
    Now click OK.
  13. Click Apply and OK.
  14. In the Add New E-mail Account panel, click Check Name to verify that the connection is working properly.
  15. In the Connect to outlook.utdallas.edu panel, enter:
    • User name: campus\netid
    • Password: your password
    Check the box for Remember my password, then click OK.
  16. Click Next, then click Finish.
Note: You will be prompted to log in, as in step #15, the next time you open Outlook.

    • Server: webmail.utdallas.edu
    • Port: 993
    • Security: SSL/TLS
  • Outgoing:
    • Server: smtpauth.utdallas.edu
    • Port: 587
    • Security: STARTTLS
