Accessing your Voicemail
Your Avaya voicemail can be accessed in two ways, either by dialing in with any phone, or by receiving your messages in the form of email in Outlook or any other mail client.
Access your Avaya Voicemail with a phone
- If you’re using the phone at your desk, dial extenstion 7000. If you’re off campus, dial 972.883.7000.
- When prompted, enter your mailbox number and password.
- You can quickly get to your messages by pressing 1, then 1 again.
- To skip to the end of a message, press 3, then 3 again
- To delete a message, press 7.
Note: You must be at the end of a message to delete it.
Note: All mailboxes are created with a default password. It is highly recommended that you create a new password as soon as possbile.
To change your password:
- Call ext. 7000 and log in.
- Press 4.
- Press 9.
- Follow the instructions to set a new password.

Access your Avaya voicemail messages with Outlook.
- Click on Start, then Control Panel.

- Switch “View by” to either Large or Small Icons, then click the Mail icon.

- In the Mail Setup panel, click on E-mail Accounts.

- In the Account Settings window, click on the button titled New…

- Choose the option to Manually configure server settings…, then click Next.

- Fill out the Settings as follows:
- Your Name: Your Name
- E-mail Address: XXXX@utdallas.edu (XXXX is your telephone extension)
- Account type: IMAP
- Incoming mail server: voicemail.utdallas.edu
- Outgoing mail server: smtp.utdallas.edu
- User Name: Your telephone extension
- Password: Voicemail password
- Check the box to Remember Password.
- Check the box for Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA).
- Click on More Settings…
- Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
- Click OK, Next, then Finish.
Close and restart Outlook for changes to take effect.
