Get a Blackberry CAL

Need help? Contact the Help Desk at 972-883-2911 or assist@utdallas.edu

UTD’s Blackberry Exchange Server (BES) enables you to check your UTD Exchange email from your phone.
Aside from a Blackberry phone with service activated (from a carrier such as T-Mobile or AT&T), you will need two other things to receive UTD Email:

  • A Blackberry Enterprise Data Service Plan. This is normally purchased when the phone is initially purchased; check with your carrier.
  • A CAL or Client Access License. This allows the phone to access the UTD Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES Server).
    • To purchase a CAL contact Blackberry at the phone number below and request a Client Access License.  A credit card number will be required.
    • Within 24 hours Blackberry will send you an email with your CAL information.

Once you have the CAL information, call the UTD Help Desk at extension 2911, and request a Blackberry setup to receive email. Be sure to tell the Helpdesk you have received a CAL from Blackberry.
They will then assign you a ticket number. Please forward the email you received from Blackberry, along with that ticket number to assist@utdallas.edu. Your account will be setup on the server, and you can then
make an appointment to setup your phone to receive email.  Important: do not discard the email from Blackberry at anytime!

Note: It is possible that the email from Blackberry may appear in your Spam Email. Thus, it’s recommended to watch both your Inbox and your spam email for the CAL email from Blackberry and keep a copy of the email once it is received.

To purchase a CAL, please call Blackberry Sales at 1-800-327-9085 or1-877-255-2377 and press option 4 for sales.
