Get Zmail on your mobile device

Set up Zmail on iOS Option 1

1. To start, go to the Home Screen and tap on the Settings icon… as shown below
   
   
   
2. Tap on the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings tab… as shown below
   
   
   
3. Tap on the Add Account… settings tab… as shown below
   
   
   
4. Tap on the Microsoft Exchange tab… as shown below
   
   
   
5. Insert your email address the domain can be left blank. Enter your net id username and password then tap on the Next button… as shown below
   
   Note: email address is your UTD email address. Username and password are the credentials used to log into the Galaxy page, or into the UTD Zmail page.
   
   
   
6. The page should refresh and ask for a server. Insert zmail.utdallas.edu then tap on the Save button…as shown below.
   
   
   
7. The phone will ask you what you items you would like to synchronize with from your Zmail account. Make sure that Mail is selected as ON. The other options are at the user’s choice. Tap on Save and you are done.
   
   
   

Now you can always check your UTD Zmail email on your phone by selecting the Mail icon from the Home Screen.

Set up Zmail on iOS Option 2

If you are on the Zmail server you can access mail on the iPhone via imap settings as well.  With this option you can only send and receive mail but lose access to your Zmail calendar and contacts.

1. To start, go to the Home Screen and tap on the Settings icon.
   
2. Tap on the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings tab.
   
3. Tap on the Add Account tab.
   
4. Tap on the Other tab.
   
5. Tap on the Add Mail Account tab.
   
6. Insert your name in the Name field. In the address field, enter your UTD email "netid@utdallas.edu". Enter your Net ID password in the password field. Then, select Next.
   
7. Make sure IMAP is selected at the top.
   
8. Fill out the forms as follows:
   

Incoming Mail Server:
Host name: zmail.utdallas.edu
User Name: your Net ID
Password: your Net ID password (already auto filled)

Outgoing Mail Server:
Host Name: smtpauth.utdallas.edu
User Name: your Net ID
Password: your Net ID password

9. Select Next (the account will be verified).
   
10. Make sure that Mail is selected as ON. The other options are at the user’s choice. Tap on Save and you are done.

Set up Zmail on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)

1. Go to Menu > Mail> > Menu > Add New Account. Choose Other (POP3/IMAP).
   
   
   
2. Choose Manual Setup.
   
   Note: For Jelly Bean, you may need to type in an email address and password before this option can be selected.
   
   
   
3. Fill out the Incoming settings with the following information. Be sure to use your NetID and not your PEA as this will not work correctly.
   
   • Protocol: IMAP
   • Email address: NetID@utdallas.edu
   • Username: NetID
   • Password: your password
   • IMAP server: zmail.utdallas.edu
   • Security type: SSL
   • Server port: 993
   • Click Next when done.
   
   
   
4. Fill out the Outgoing server settings with the following information.
   
   • Check the Login required circle.
   • Username: NetID
   • Password: your password
   • SMTP server: smtpauth.utdallas.edu
   • Security type: TLS
   • Server port: 587
   • Click Next when done.
   
   
   
5. You will now be asked to name your account and choose a display name. Your name will be what others see when you email them from this account. Once done, select Finish Setup.
   
   Note: It may take up to 5-10 minutes for all of your emails to show up on your phone as it will be syncing up with the Exchange server during this time.
