Install

Step 1

Get your digital certificate onto your phone.

  • From your desktop pc, send an email to yourself with the digital certificate as an attachment.
  • On your phone, open the email and tap the attached digital certificate.

Step 2

  • Tap Install.
  • Tap Install Now.

Step 3

  • Enter your certificate password.
  • Tap Next.
  • Tap Done.
Note: The password is the one you created when you signed up for your digital certificate.
Note: The “Profile Installed” screen may say “Certificate is not Trusted”, ignore this and tap Done.

Enable – Incoming

Allows you to read incoming encrypted messages on your phone.

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.
  • Select your UTD Exchange account.
  • Scroll down to S/MIME.
  • Set the S/MIME toggle to ON.

You will now be able to read encrypted emails on your phone.

Enable – Outgoing

Enable Signing and Encryption on all outgoing messages.

IMPORTANT: This will enable encryption for ALL messages sent from this device through your UTD Exchange account. Encryption cannot be set on a per-email basis. Personal email accounts will not be affected.

Step 1

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.
  • Select your UTD Exchange account.
  • Scroll down to the S/MIME section.

Step 2

  • Tap Sign.
  • Set the toggle to ON.
  • Select your certificate profile.

Step 3

  • Tap Encrypt.
  • Set the toggle to ON.
  • Select your certificate profile.

Uninstall

Step 1

  • Open Settings.
  • Tap General.
  • tap Profile.

Step 2

  • Tap Remove.
Note: It may say the certificate is “Not Trusted”. Ignore this.
