Quotas

All members of UTD have at least two separate quotas: Email and Disk.

Disk refers to your personal storage space on either the Unix or Windows servers. This is commonly called the “H” drive.

Email refers to the storage space allotted for your Zmail or Exchange mail and includes mail attachements.

You may request an increase on any of your quotas by contacting the Help Desk

Which quota do you want to check?

Check your Disk quota

All members of UTD have a directory on one of the Unix servers. Staff and Faculty may have access to departmental and/or additional personal disk space on one of the Windows servers.

Check your Unix disk quota/usage

  1. Log into your Unix account (ssh NetID@apache.utdallas.edu)
  2. At the prompt, type in du -sh

This will display current disk usage. Default total storage (quota) is set to 300MB.

Check your Windows server quota

Run the QuotaInfo.bat batch file found at the root of the Allshare (P: drive) via the Command Prompt.

The default Windows server disk quota for Staff & Faculty is 2GB. The default quota for Departmental shares is 20GB.

Note: H drive quota increases will not be granted to run simulation software for class or store large bulks of data for class. Please use the apache:/scratch space for those purposes. It is a directory where users can create a folder preferably called *your netid*, and set permissions you feel appropriate. You can start saving simulation or program files into that folder (granted correct permissions you will be the only one with access to that folder).
