Media Services

Home

Media Services is the Academic Computing and User Support group consisting of Classroom Support Services and Video Services. The Classroom Support Services group manages the daily multimedia and audio-visual requirements of UTD's courses across most of the buildings on campus. Some departments service their own classrooms and maintain their own equipment, however, the majority use Media Services either directly or as a second-tier for reference and assistance. The Video Services group is responsible for video production, post-production, and videoconferencing. These responsibilities include recording, editing, and duplicating course lectures, seminars, and special events hosted on-campus. Video Services also handles videoconferences with the Callier Center, UT System, and various UT System components.

To view a list of the audio-video equipment available on the main Richardson campus, see the online Classroom Media Reservations site.

Classroom Media Support

Classroom Media Support can be reached at 972-883-4900 or media@utdallas.edu.

Do not hesitate to call extension 4900 with any questions you may have. It helps us tremendously when you call x4900 to report burnt out bulbs, other necessary equipment maintenance and/or to report damaged equipment. Please feel free to call to confirm that your request has been processed and/or to find out if it is en route. If for some reason your equipment does not arrive as scheduled or if you experience difficulties with the equipment during your class, please call x4900 immediately. If you reach our voicemail please leave us a detailed message including your room number, and a description of the problem you are experiencing.

To view a list of the audio-video equipment available on the main Richardson campus, see the online Classroom Media Reservations site.

Note: A new Multimedia Classroom Tutorial is now available. The tutorial will start in its own window, please ensure that popup windows are not blocked.

Before you can request equipment you must first reserve an event space. Reserving a room does not reserve the equipment.

Media Services does not provide podiums or tables. If you want a microphone on a podium or multiple microphones on a table for a panel discussion, you must send a work request form to Facilities Management, PP11, to arrange the set up of the podium and/or the table(s) in addition to placing a request for the equipment with Media Services.

All equipment is subject to availability. Once delivered, the requesting person is fully responsible and liable for every item issued.

We will be happy to provide equipment all semester, but we do need to know the specific date(s) you need equipment. For security reasons, we do not want to setup the equipment when you do not have class. If you will be giving a test and will not need our equipment, please let us know. If there has been a change in your schedule and you need equipment on a different day, please let us know as soon as possible.

All requests must be received two business days prior to event (class). All Weekend requests MUST be in by 12:00 pm the Wednesday before. This is so we can adjust our techs' schedules accordingly.
*Note: Submitting a request does not guarantee an equipment reservation.

Overtime charges may apply for weekend/night events - contact our office for details.

Media Services is not responsible for undelivered on-line requests. No late requests will be accepted.

Requests will not be accepted via telephone or in person.

We cannot guarantee service, or equipment, if we are not given proper notice.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
