Policies: Identity Finder

UT Dallas is required to monitor and verify that confidential information is being handled in a manner consistent with UTS165. This is the Information Resources Use and Security Policy. All UT Dallas faculty and staff need to ensure that their computers do not contain confidential information unless it is a business requirement. UT Dallas purchased Identity Finder to assist with this task. Identity Finder is software that searches for personally identifiable information (PII) such as: Social Security Numbers, credit cards, bank accounts and passwords.

We ask that you install and run Identity Finder on University owned Windows computers. This program can run in the background while you continue to work. Once the scan has completed, please review the scan results. Delete any files that contain confidential or sensitive information that are no longer needed. If the scan identities files that are essential to your business function, please contact the Information Security Office(infosecurity@utdallas.edu) to discuss options for encrypting the information.

There are two versions of Identity Finder.

• Identity Finder Enterprise Edition is for use on UT Dallas owned assets. For details on how to install and run the application, go to: P:\Installs\Misc\Identity Finder.
  
  
• Identity Finder Home Edition is for use at home on a personal computer. Click here (Identity Finder Home Edition) for more information. NetID and password required to access. Do NOT enter "campus\'your netid'" as part of the User Name, just your NetID.
