Latest Email Scam
On Saturday, Mar 15, 2008, the University community began receiving emails that purported to be from the " Utdallas Admin” announcing an upgrade of the email systems that required confirmation of your account information.
The email began like this:
Verify and Update Your University Of Texas Email Account
Dear Utdallas.edu Email users,
This message is from Utdallas.edu messaging center to all utdallas email account owners. We are currently upgrading our data base and e-mail center. We are deleting all unused utdallas email accounts to create more space for new email accounts.
This email is a scam.
No one at UTD has the ability look up your password.
If anyone asks you for your password, you should contact the UTD Information Security Office immediately at 972-883-6810 or infosecurity@utdallas.edu.
- What should I do if I've replied to the message?
- You should notify the Information Security Office and change your password immediately.
- I changed my password after reading the email. What should I do now?
- Nothing. If you changed your password but didn't reply to the email, your
account is safe.
- My account has been blocked. What should I do?
- Call the Information Security Office Monday – Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM for help in resetting your account.
