TelecommunicationsCellular Communications EquipmentIn accordance with the university’s cellular communications equipment policy: Cellular Communication Device Allowance. UTD offers cellular and other wireless communications services to university employees under the Texas Department of Information Resources state contract. Two types of arrangements are available. In some cases, the university may supply the cell phone or other device for an employee. Otherwise, the employee should request a subsidy (see link above). We strongly recommend applying for the payroll subsidy plan, which allows the user to order and use whatever device they choose, from any vendor they choose, and manage the billing themselves. This eliminates the need for university auditors to regularly examine statements for improper usage or other potential improprieties. For those not using the subsidy plan, the following vendors are under contract. Search the links below to find the type of cell phone, voice & data plan that meets your needs. Then fill out and submit a TSR form: Telecommunications Service Request Be sure to include departmental approval, account #, type of phone, and voice and data plan, and submit via campus mail to Telecommunications Services JO48; or fax a copy to ext. 2490, or email a completed form to telecom@utdallas.edu.
