| Q: | What is the deadline for migrating my mailbox to Zmail? |
| A: | We hope you migrate to Zmail soon. Zmail officially deployed on January 11th, 2010. However, you don't have to migrate immediately. Ideally, everyone will migrate before Spring Break (March 15). The ultimate deadline is currently scheduled for May 30, 2010. This is the expected date for the Cyrus service to end. |
| Q: | Will I be able to access my old emails? |
| A: | When you go through the steps to create a Zmail account, your Cyrus mailbox will automatically be copied to the Zmail application. |
| Q: | What if something happens during migration? Will my old emails get deleted? |
| A: | Your old emails will not be deleted. In fact, our current plan is to leave your Cyrus emails intact until Cyrus is completely shut down. Furthermore, you will still be able to use the Cyrus email software until the migration is complete. But note: new emails will be delivered to your Zmail account, not your old Cyrus account. |
| Q: | I currently use Microsoft Outlook to handle my Cyrus email. Will I still be able to use Outlook? |
| A: | Yes, Outlook can be used with your new Zmail account. Instructions will be available to explain how to set up Outlook and other mail clients. |
| Q: | I don’t know if I use Exchange or Cyrus for my email. What do I do? |
| A: | Not to worry — when you visit the Zmail migration web tool will be able to determine if you are using Cyrus. |
| Q: | I am using Exchange. Can I convert to Zimbra Zmail? |
| A: | No, there are no plans to migrate Exchange users to the Zmail tool. |
| Q: | What about Cyrus "bulletin boards" (shared folders)? |
| A: | Those shared folders that mirrored some mailing lists, like the staff and faculty distributions, will not at this time be migrated over to Zmail. While the entire notion of bulletin boards was convenient for a technically savvy few, in general they were very rarely utilized as originally envisioned. Consequently it is not practical at this time to migrate all those shared folders to Zmail. However, some shared folders have, and will continue to be migrated over to Zmail as the need arises, and if it makes sense to do so.
