Liz Salter's research and publication record is eclectic: including archaeological faunal analysis, human skeletal analysis, human growth and development and most recently craniofacial anthropometry. Her publications range from site reports to aspects of craniofacial dysmorphology useful in diagnosing children with a variety of craniofacial anomalies. The latter was summarized in "Craniofacial Anthropometry", co-authored with John C. Kolar (Charles C. Thomas, 1997). In 1997 Liz Salter and John Kolar received the PRAXIS Award from the Washington Association of Professional Anthropologists "for excellence in applying anthropology to problems of the contemporary world."
While an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto (1985-87), she was awarded the best teacher in the Social Sciences in 1986-87. She was also responsible for obtaining (along with John Reid) the J.C.B. Grant Skeletal Collection for the Department of Anthropology. At the University of Texas at Dallas, Liz's efforts are divided among her teaching (Bones, Bodies and Disease, Human Female: Biology and Culture, and Humans: Our Place in Nature) and administrative position which centers around student advising. Liz is also involved with the Women's Center, and other campus committees.

Michele Brown is the administrative assistant for the School of Interdisciplinary Studies undergraduate program. She schedules appointments for Dr. Salter, the Associate Dean, and for the Academic Advisors Janet Collins, Tess Kuo and Daneetra Kersee. She also coordinates the undergraduate senior honors program and graduation. She is available to answer any student's questions about the undergraduate program in Interdisciplinary Studies. Debbie Buckner - Administrative Assistant

Debbie Buckner is an Administrative Assistant in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies to Dean George W. Fair. Primary responsibilities include various administrative duties for the Partnerships for Education of Homeless Children and Youth including data collection input and processing of tutor paperwork, assistance with yearly "Kids University"; in addition to student registration and assistance with UT Telecampus Chess On Line course; travel arrangements, and various other clerical duties. Janet has been an academic advisor in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies since summer 2002. She has "hands-on" experience in Interdisciplinary Studies, having earned her B.A. in IS in the Spring of 2001 and her MA in IS in 2008. Her personal philosophy is that if a student is interested in a particular subject (for example, psychology) that they will earn better grades. Janet tries to work with each individual student to design a degree plan that hopefully reflects that student's interest and guides them towards their academic and personal goals.
