Gender Studies

The Gender Studies minor is part of a new and exciting field that examines gender as a complex social structure, intersecting with class, race, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation and identity. Drawing upon courses in gender studies, American studies, social sciences, psychology and other gender-related courses as part of the required 18-credit hours, students will encounter principles that have been used to explain women’s and men’s natures, roles and social functions. The minor in gender studies helps prepare students for careers ranging from human resources and management to law and health sciences, as well as graduate and professional degrees.
