Student Profile – Marisol Espinoza

"The University of Texas at Dallas has been a wonderful place for me to grow. I chose UT Dallas for a number of reasons. The tuition is a good value, especially compared to area private universities. The school is close to my home, which gives me the opportunity to spend time with my family. UT Dallas also offered the teaching program that I wanted, through its Teacher Development Center. By far the best thing about UT Dallas is the people. The atmosphere at UT Dallas is really laid back and friendly, but the professors, advisors and other staff are focused on your success.Joining JumpStart has been my best experience at UT Dallas because it has made me feel a part of the University. I’ve also met some of my best friends through the program.
The best advice I could give to freshman would be to join at least one extracurricular program at UT Dallas. It’s a good way to meet people with the same interests, and it also gives you a sense of connection with the University. Also, never forget that college not only prepares you for your future career, but also for entering society."

A graduate of Skyline High School, Marisol Espinoza is an Interdisciplinary Studies major, who came to UT Dallas after obtaining her associate’s degree from Mountain View Community College. She will graduate in Spring 2010 from UT Dallas. Marisol plans to use her bachelor’s degree and Jumpstart volunteer experience to become an elementary school teacher.
