Programming Workshops during Spring Break!

Workshops on Music, GameMaker and Minecraft have been added!

Special 1-week Spring Break camp for Math-oriented students (5th grade and up): “Bring Math to Life” at Daedalus Education, Plano. Click here for more information. This camp is SOLD OUT! No worries – we will offer it as Summer Camp again.

.

We are planning to offer several half-day, one-day and 2-day workshops @ UT Dallas and several locations around the city during Spring break (March 10-14, 2014). All workshops (except Level 0 Scratch) will run from 9:30am to 4:30pm – you can drop off starting at 9am and pick up as late as 5pm. We will serve lunch around 12 noon and snacks around 3pm. Each half-day workshop costs $10 & full-day workshops cost $20 per day at UT Dallas. Each half-day workshop costs $15 & full-day workshops cost  $25 per day for all other locations. Visit the bottom of main page utd.edu/k12 for information on discounts for UT Dallas families, low income families and school teachers.

.

We do understand that unexpected things happen and you may need to cancel the reservation at times – we have a new, very reasonable policy: $10 cancellation fee will apply for each transaction irrespective of the total amount. No refunds beyond the first day of the workshop.

.

Following list contains our recommendation – we strongly encourage every one to start with Scratch and climb up! There is no point in rushing through – slow down and enjoy the learning experience! In fact, we have seen several students retake a specific workshop a few times before moving on to the next level! Visit www.utdallas.edu/k12 to read more about these levels.
.

Level 0 : Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders

Level 1 : 3rd graders to adults, or Level 0 graduates

Level 2 : Middle Schoolers to adults (younger Level 1 graduates OK too)

Level 3 : Level 2 graduates or students with equivalent experience

Level 4 : Level 3 graduates or students with equivalent experience

.

See utd.edu/k12/directions for detailed instructions to get to UTD campus and ECSS building (CN building is right in front of ECSS). Since UT Dallas will also be in Spring Break, you can park in any GREEN colored parking space without any permit. Do not worry about the directions to get to specific classrooms/labs – just reach the front of ECSS building – we will direct you from there! Participants need to bring the following 2 forms filled out and signed by parents to be admitted to the workshops. While we will do our best to help all the participants with the logistics, we cannot take care of them like a typical day-care. Participants have to go to hallway to eat lunch and to use restrooms. We are not responsible if a child wanders off after going to restroom or after eating lunch. That is one of the reasons why we recommend young children to register & attend the workshops with friend(s). A responsible adult should stay with child if the parent or a child is not comfortable with our settings.
