Whether intentional or
unintentional, plagiarism is a serious offense. If you are caught, there
will still be consequences. Here is a
sample of what is considered to be intentional and unintentional plagiarism:
Intentional:
-
Purchasing prepared papers from a commercial
paper mill.
-
Word-for-word copying of another person's work
without proper acknowledgement.
-
Cutting and pasting from various sources to
create a paper without proper acknowledgement.
-
Making up or falsifying citations.
-
Paraphrasing another person's work in which only
a few words or lines have been changed, as well as the improper citing of that
paraphrased work.
Unintentional:
-
Forgetting to properly cite a quoted passage.
-
Forgetting to put quotation marks around a quoted
writer's words.
-
Omitting a citation when there was a need for
one.
