Out of This World: A Universe of Science Fiction & Fantasy
Little, Big by John Crowley
Main Lobby Case – 2nd floor
A joint effort of the Eugene McDermott Library and newly formed Science Fiction and Fantasy Club (http://sff.wikia.com/wiki/SciFi_&_Fantasy), the exhibit contains an array of artifacts: Hugo and Nebula award-winning books and nominees, popular SFF movies, notable books by visiting authors, and other club-related items. Currently, the exhibit showcases the books of John Crowley, who visited the campus at the end of October 2012. It will also contain a calendar of the club’s upcoming events and meeting times. An update of the exhibit will place it in a new location nearby that features the works of Greg Bear, noted scifi author who will visit the UTD campus in February 2013.

Interlibrary Loan & E-Delivery
Elevator Anteroom Left Case – 2nd Floor
Interlibrary Loan is a service that allows UTD faculty, students, and staff to obtain books and articles not available at the McDermott Library, while E-Delivery provides electronic copies of chapters and articles owned by the library in print. Both services are free, and both are quick. E-Delivery requests and articles obtained from other libraries are usually delivered to you in less than 48 hours, while books are received in 5 to 10 days on average. This exhibit illustrates how Interlibrary Loan works, where the materials we borrow come from, and how to submit requests quickly and easily from the library’s databases. Visit the Interlibrary Loan Services website for more information and to submit requests.

UT Dallas Homecoming
Elevator Anteroom Right Case – 2nd Floor
Homecoming serves as a time-honored tradition for a university to welcome back its alumni. It generally revolves around student-alumni festivities. We may not have a football team at UT Dallas, but we still have plenty of activities and spirit when it comes to Homecoming. This exhibit displays photographs and memorabilia from Homecomings past, including October 25, 2002 when we welcomed Astronaut and UT Dallas alumnus James F. Reilly, II to campus. We invite you to take part in some of this year’s events. The full schedule is listed at http://www.utdallas.edu/homecoming/.
