Biology POWERSEARCH  Searches the following databases simultaneously: Academic Search CompleteProvided by TexShare, General Science Abstracts, INSPEC, and MEDLINEProvided by TexShare.  How to Search This Database
Biology Digest Indexes and abstracts over 300 life sciences journals from 1989 to the present. The abstracts are lengthier than most other databases and are written in a more non-technical style, making Biology Digest easier to use for non-scientists. Some of the disciplines covered include botany, health, medicine, zoology, ecology, and biology.
Science Citation Index ISI Web of Knowledge (formerly- ISI Web of Science) provides seamless access to three citation indexes: the Science Citation Index, the Social Sciences Citation Index, and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index. These can be searched together or separately. Approximately 8,500 of the most prestigious research journals are indexed with abstracts within the Web of Science. Complete bibliographies are included for each citation allowing for cited reference searching.  How to Search This Database
Contains over 800 leading full-text journals covering relevant aspects of the scientific and technical community. Topics include aeronautics, astrophysics, biology, chemistry, computer technology, geology, aviation, physics, archaeology, marine sciences and materials science. SCOPUS Multidisciplinary database covering scientific, technical, medical and social science literature - over 15,000 peer-reviewed titles from 4,000 publishers. Abstracts to over 33 million records reach from present back to 1966 with selective linking to full text. Specifically, SCOPUS covers topics in health, life sciences, agricultural and biological sciences, chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, earth and environmental sciences, social science, psychology, and economics, business, and management.  How to Search This Database
Compendex (Engineering Village Archive) A comprehensive online archive of engineering research containing almost 10 million references with abstracts to over 5,000 engineering journals and technical reports. Engineering of all types is fully represented, including bioengineering, computer science and technology, electrical and chemical engineering, materials science, and nuclear, civil, mechanical, aerospace, and petroleum engineering. IEEE Xplore IEEE Xplore, produced by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, is ideal for conducting research in the field of electronics, electrical engineering, telecommunications, wireless communications, and computer engineering. It provides access to IEEE transactions, journals, magazines, conference proceedings, as well as current IEEE standards. Complete full text is provided back to 1988, with select content reaching back to 1952.  How to Search This Database
Dissertations and Theses: Full-Text Replacing Dissertation Abstracts, Dissertations and Theses: Full-Text now provides many complete dissertations and theses from over one thousand universities. The index begins in 1861. Dissertations published after 1980 and master’s theses written after 1987 include author abstracts. Dissertations produced at the University of Texas at Dallas are included in this database.  How to Search This Database
Gale Virtual Reference Library Comprehensive collection of reference materials in electronic format, across a wide range of subject and curriculum areas including Arts and Humanities, Child Care studies, History, Business and Finance, Education and much more.
AGRICOLA (agriculture) Provided by TexShare Created by the National Agricultural Library, contains citations to agricultural literature, and covers all aspects of agricultural science including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, farming, agricultural economics, extension and education, food and human nutrition, and earth and environmental sciences. AGRICOLA indexes and cites books and book chapters, journal articles, government reports, and audiovisual materials. Medline, produced by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, is widely recognized as the premier source for bibliographic and abstract coverage of biomedical literature. Medline encompasses information in the areas of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. PubMed PubMed, developed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the U.S. National Library of Medicine, provides access to citations and abstracts from biomedical literature. Over 10,500 journals are indexed by PubMed with coverage back to the 1950s. Links to full-text articles at other journal Web sites are provided for many of the citations within PubMed.
